Professional cleaning at KissDent is not a cosmetic polish at the end of a check-up. It is a thorough clinical procedure carried out by our dental hygiene team using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments to remove every deposit from every surface of every tooth, above and below the gumline.
The appointment begins with an assessment of your gum health, checking for any areas of inflammation, bleeding, or early pocket formation that need attention. Deposits are then removed systematically using an ultrasonic scaler, which breaks up calculus using high frequency vibration and water irrigation, reaching areas that hand scaling alone cannot access as efficiently. Hand instruments are used to refine the clean and address any remaining deposits. The teeth are then polished to remove surface staining and leave a smooth surface that is harder for new plaque to adhere to.
Where indicated, a fluoride treatment is applied at the end of the appointment to strengthen the enamel and provide additional protection until your next visit.

What Is Actually Happening to Your Teeth Between Visits?
Every day, a thin film of bacteria forms on the surface of your teeth. Brushing and flossing disrupts this film and removes most of it. But in the areas that are harder to reach, between teeth, along the gumline, and behind the back molars, some of it remains. Over time, the bacteria in this film mineralise and harden into calculus, a deposit that no amount of brushing will remove. It can only be removed with professional instruments.
Once calculus forms, it creates a rough surface that attracts more bacteria, accelerates gum inflammation, and if left long enough, begins to drive the bone loss associated with periodontal disease. The process is gradual, largely painless in its early stages, and entirely preventable with regular professional cleaning at a dental clinic in Tirana.

How Often Do You Need Professional Cleaning and Prophylaxis?
For most patients with good general gum health, professional prophylaxis every six months alongside a check-up is the standard recommendation. For patients with a history of gum disease, deeper pockets, or higher than average calculus build-up, prophylaxis every three to four months is more appropriate.
We assess your individual recall interval at every visit based on what we actually find rather than applying a fixed schedule to every patient. If your gum health is excellent and your home care is thorough, we will tell you. If we are seeing more build-up than we would like between visits, we will discuss whether more frequent prophylaxis would be beneficial.
Staining and Surface Discolouration
Professional cleaning also addresses surface staining caused by coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking. The polishing step at the end of the appointment removes extrinsic staining from the tooth surface, leaving the teeth visibly cleaner and brighter without any bleaching or whitening treatment.
This is not the same as teeth whitening, which changes the intrinsic colour of the tooth. But for patients whose main concern is the dullness or yellowing caused by dietary staining rather than the natural shade of their teeth, a professional clean often produces a noticeably improved result that satisfies what they were looking for without the need for whitening treatment.

I went to Kissdent to see about old crowns (30 years old) and recent work that I had done in the EU that I was not happy with. With a panoramic xray (and visual aesthetic check) it was clear what needed to be done.
Fast-forward 2 weeks and I write now, with 9 beautiful new zirconium crowns. They are mostly back molars but one that I worried about most was my left front tooth. I have a difficult tooth colour to match.
Kissdent staff have done a wonderful job. The clinic and lab are located on the same premises so they are able to adjust the tooth colour and overall bite precisely.
All excellent quality work and material for a very reasonable price. Unbeatable in Europe and North America.

Ich hab ein Implantat am Frontzahn bekommen. Das war vor einem halben Jahr, die Behandlung war sehr sanft, sehr einfühlsam und ist fantastisch verheilt. Es hat nicht einen Moment wehgetan und ich hab mich jederzeit gut aufgehoben gefühlt.
